The world has been growing and competing ever since the evolution of mankind. Every day comes with a new type of struggle, whether it be in our individual lives or the world outside. We all want to grow and reach beyond where we are today. To attain and accomplish, it is important to make sure of staying healthy in both body and mind. However, we tend to look after our bodies but often forget the importance mental health carries along with itself. Hence, this blog aims to focus on the need to address mental wellness in today’s competitive world.

It is more than just what we think:

Mental Health was defined in the 20th century. But still, a lot of people think that Mental Health only refers to what we think. It is much more than that. Mental Health is our psychological condition that is prone to fluctuations that can affect our bonds with our families, friends, children, spouse, and even the relationship that we have with ourselves.

Various Mental Health awareness campaigns have been organized on a global scale to spread awareness regarding the same. 'Every Mind Matters' by Public Health England, Freud's Health, 'Be Vocal: Speak Up for Mental Health' by Biosector 2 and Sunovian Pharmaceuticals, 'New Mind-set' by Havas Lynx and United for Global Mental Health are some of the examples.

Mental Health and COVID-19:

With the growing needs and demands of surviving come to a lot of realizations. Especially, when we talk about the past two years, we have understood and diligently adapted to the new normal that the global pandemic, Covid-19, has brought. Even at such terrifying times, we have understood how to keep going.

Seeing the past two years, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the mental health of the employees has been at stake. Whether it is about adjusting to the virtual platform, reporting and working when you’re not physically in touch with your co-workers, facing digital constraints, managing your personal and professional life while working from home, or fear of losing your job… all of this has taken a toll on our mental health. However, I feel proud to say that we still have performed the best and brought multi-fold results within such challenging circumstances.

While Covid-19 and lockdowns have introduced us to a new way of living and taught us that nothing is stable; it has also told us that the need to address mental health is of supreme importance.

Addressing Mental Health:

If I talk about the working world, people are prone to stress and exhaustion, especially in the relocation industry. New challenges come up uninformed at all times. And it is integral that such issues get addressed and sorted out as soon as possible. Between constant workload and ensuring total customer satisfaction, it often gets pretty hard to stay calm and sorted in the head. Hence, mental health importance plays major role, engage in activities that work as a stress-buster and provide scope for recreation. Also, it is helpful to have a positive and relaxed attitude. Panicking and hurrying might lead you nowhere!

Companies and organizations must also work towards providing their employees with a healthy and comfortable working environment, celebrate various occasions, organize recreational activities to engage employees and help them work as proficiently and enthusiastically as possible.

If any employee feels exhausted or derailed, he or she must be given the assurance that there is always someone to help and the company is all ears. As a result, the trust and transparency between the employee and the company are improved which ultimately helps in proper efficient functioning from both ends. It is important to make your employees feel at home. Because, in the corporate world, a workstation is where an individual spends most of the time.

Initiative taken at PMR:

To ensure optimal working and employee engagement, PM Relocations has taken an initiative by forming a Cultural Group named “The Fun Squad”. This Group contributes to increasing the happiness index within the company. It organizes events and activities that work as stress-busters for the employees.

Also, PMR keeps organizing various events yearly. Every occasion at the office is celebrated with togetherness and unity. Everybody takes out time from their work to celebrate such occasions and rejoice in being happy.

At length, it is important to understand that ensuring peace of mind is not limited to only one section of society. At some point or the other, everyone has been mentally affected in the past years and mental health stands important to one and all. Simultaneously, we must support and listen to each other and stop being hard on ourselves.
